The Government has published the Flexible Working (Amendment) Regulations 2023, which confirm changes to flexible working and flexible working requests that will come into force from 6th April 2024.
Currently, the regulations specify that the right to make a flexible working request is only afforded to an employee after 26 weeks of service. The amendment regulations confirm that the right to request a flexible working pattern will now become a day-one right for all of your employees.
This is the only change that is currently confirmed, however, other changes are planned. For example, the number of flexible working requests that an employee can make in a single year is likely to increase from one to two.
Although the full extent of these changes is yet to be confirmed, they are all likely to be in effect from the 6th April 2024.
