This week is International Happiness at Work week- a perfect time to consider your employee's wellbeing and general feelings at work and about work. Happy staff are more likely to be productive, engaged and co-operative at work, so a happy workforce is something you should always be striving for.
There are certain small adjustments you can make to ensure that your staff are as happy as they can be. For example, you could offer flexible working. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us became accustomed to working from home, and therefore workers may appreciate being able to continue this practise where their physical presence at your site is not essential.
You can also make sure that you are giving your workers recognition and praise for their achievements. When their achievements are noticed, there is more incentive for your employees to produce the best work that they can. It will also lead to them feeling more positive about work in general.
A bigger change that you could consider implementing is to allow your workers to leave early on a Friday, if all of their work is completed. Even if it is just by an hour or so, workers will most likely appreciate the gesture, and will overall have a better attitude and a more positive outlook at work. This will lead to increased effort and productivity.
These are just a few examples of the kind of changes you could implement, it is important for you to review what works best for your business. You should listen to your workers and what they believe would increase their happiness at work, and try to introduce some adjustments that fit their needs.
